Which assessment do I need?

ADHD Assessment

For children and adolescents experiencing difficulties with attention, executive functioning, and:

  • Attention and focus

  • Working memory

  • Organisation and planning

  • Task initiation and time management

  • Impulsivity or restlessness

  • Emotional regulation

  • School or learning performance

This assessment helps determine whether ADHD is present, better understand your child's unique profile, and guide personalised recommendations and supports.

Autism Assessment

For children and adolescents who may be experiencing challenges in:

  • Social communication

  • Behaviour and routines

  • Sensory processing

  • Social interaction or development

This assessment can help clarify whether autism spectrum disorder may be present.

Cognitive & Learning Assessment

This assessment may be helpful if your child is experiencing:

  • Cognitive, academic, or learning challenges

  • Difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, or mathematics

  • Concerns regarding school progress or educational support needs

  • Giftedness and high cognitive ability

  • Consideration for enrichment, extension, or acceleration opportunities​

This assessment provides a detailed understanding of your child's cognitive abilities and learning profile, helping to identify strengths, support needs, and practical recommendations to guide learning at home and school.

Understanding the Assessment Process

Every assessment is tailored to your child's needs and may involve interviews, questionnaires, standardised assessment tools, and information from parents, teachers, or other relevant professionals. In some cases, contact with your child's school or early learning setting may form part of the assessment process. We will discuss each step with you at the outset and keep you informed throughout the assessment journey.

Additional Assessment Areas

  • Giftedness, early entry to preschool and primary school)

  • School readiness

  • Developmental assessment (intellectual disability, developmental profile and global developmental delay)

  • Functional capacity and adaptive functioning assessment

  • Behavioural assessment (including oppositional defiant disorder)

  • Mental health assessment (including anxiety, selective mutism, OCD, childhood depression and PTSD)

  • Neuropsychological assessment (attention, memory, language and executive functioning).

Assessment Tools

Commonly used assessment tools may include:

  • Griffiths Scales of Child Development (for Global Developmental Delay)

  • WPPSI (Cognitive testing: 2.6-7.3 years).

  • WISC (Cognitive testing: 6.0-16.11 years).

  • WIAT (Psychometric test for learning / academic achievement).

  • NEPSY (Neuropsychological, Executive Functioning / Memory challenges).

  • ADIR, ADOS, MIGDAS for autism spectrum disorder.

  • WHODAS / Vineland / ABAS (Functional Capacity).​
